What’s the first thing you do when you realize your plumbing has backed up? You probably reach for a plunger or a drain snake, right? While they might get things flowing again temporarily, they won’t completely clean the pipe and you could be left with another problem in the near future. But have no fear, hydrojetting is here!
What is Hydrojetting?
Traditional drain cleaning methods such as snaking or rodding do not completely clear debris from the sewage line. These techniques drill a hole through the debris, only clearing a path as wide as the equipment. While some buildup may loosen, traditional drain cleaning will not thoroughly clean your pipes.
So, what makes hydrojetting different?
This technique provides a more effective solution for clearing buildup. Pressurized water blasts through the debris, cleaning the entire interior of the pipe. This comprehensive cleaning may remove years of buildup, including debris from hair, soap scum, and grease.
How Does it Work?
Home sewage systems utilize gravity to send waste from the home to the local sewage system. With traditional drain cleaning, snakes and rods are inserted through the drain and pipes and push debris downstream toward the main sewage line.
Hydrojetting works in the opposite direction. The hose is inserted into the plumbing clean-out. This is an area that provides access to the sewer line and pipes.
Pressurized water is sprayed upstream to dislodge buildup. As the debris loosens, it travels down through the pipes and out of your sewage system. This is more efficient than simply pushing the buildup further down the pipes.
Additional Benefits of Hydrojetting
Besides offering a more effective method of clearing buildup, hydrojetting provides a variety of benefits:
It prevents future plumbing issues and recurring clogs.
Pressurized water may help clear tree roots.
There is no use of harmful chemicals or drain cleaners.
