These 5 Household Items Contain More Bacteria Than You Think

Let’s face it – your home isn’t as clean and sanitary as you
thought it was. In fact, lots of the items you use on a daily basis don’t
actually have that long of a shelf life. It’s time to go through
your belongings and clean or replace the items below right away!

1 – Kitchen Sponges

Sponges take the cake as the dirtiest items in your kitchen, which contrary
to popular belief, is usually the dirtiest room of the house. Just think
about all of the raw meat, eggs and other bacteria-filled items your sponge
comes in contact with daily.

We suggest disinfecting it every other day by getting it wet and microwaving
it on high for one minute. Otherwise, it should be replaced just as frequently.

2 – Bath Towels

Lots of people take three, four or even five showers before washing their
towel or switching to a new one. What they don’t realize is that
wet cloth attracts mold and mildew.

You should be washing your bath towels frequently with hot water and if
you begin noticing mildew smells, toss it and get a new one.

3 – Toothbrushes

Be sure to replace your toothbrush every three to four months and keep
it far away from the toilet!

4 – Pet Toys

Sure, it may come as no surprise that these things get pretty filthy, but
what you may not realize is that they breed mold and yeast when they wind
up in the nooks and crannies of your home. Take this as a reminder to
give them a thorough cleaning.

5 – Loofahs

They’re used to get you clean, but that doesn’t mean they’re
free of dirt and debris. Also keep in mind that they hang in the shower
and are wet most of the time which means there’s a good chance they’re
growing mold. Gross, right?

Now that we’ve listed out a few of the dirtier items in your home,
it’s time to get to work! Clear some time in your calendar in the
next day or two to either clean or replace the items listed above!
