How to Unclog a Drain, Naturally

Your drain is clogged, water is going down at a snail’s pace and you don’t know what to do. Panic mode commence! Not so fast. There’s no reason to stress and more importantly, there’s no reason to use chemical drain cleaners.

Homeowners across the country reach underneath the sink or in the cabinet for Draino, Liquid Plumber or (insert your favorite drain cleaner here). But when you find out that these types of cleaners contain harmful chemicals they may not be your favorite any longer.

Not only do lots of commercial drain cleaning products contain toxins that are unhealthy for you and your family members to breathe in, they can also take a toll on your home’s plumbing system. We’ve got a simple natural solution that will do the trick instead.

In a measuring cup or bowl mix:

  • 3 cups warm water

  • 1 cup vinegar

  • 1 cup baking soda

Pour down the drain and let it sit for a few minutes. Then rinse clean with warm water and voila! No more clogged drain. Repeat the steps above if necessary and if the clog still doesn’t disappear you may need to call in a plumber. That’s where we come in! We’ll check your plumbing to make sure there’s not something blocking the pipe and inspect the pipes for damage.
