Heating Solutions for a Toasty Winter

It’s not easy to stay cozy during the frigid winters we have here in the Twin Cities. Once freezing temperatures make their way into town for good, homeowners often find themselves in a battle between being comfortable and keeping energy bills to a minimum. There are a few things you can do around your home to fight back against the freeze this winter – see below:

  1. Replace old windows with energy-efficient models. Double- or triple-pane glass works wonders when it comes to keeping heat trapped inside. But if you can’t afford to replace them right away, at least be sure to plug up cracks and gaps around your old ones. Weatherstripping and caulk will do the trick!

  2. Add a towel warming rack to your bathroom. There’s nothing like wrapping yourself in a warm towel after a nice, relaxing shower. This addition can also add a sense of luxury to any small bathroom in the house.

  3. Replace damaged baseboard radiators. We recommend upgrading to energy-efficient flat panel radiators if you’re short on space.

  4. Close the damper in your fireplace when it’s not in use. This will help prevent warm air from escaping through the chimney and keep it inside the living areas of your home.
